Medical Careers - Whatelse Besides Being A Doctor
If you want to help people fight with their illeness, then you can consider to work in a medical career, eventhough you can not be a doctor. There are positions which you cab filled in in the medical career.
1. Audiologist- helping people who have difficulty in the sense of hearing. Working as finding the cause of the hearing problem and try to solve the problem with hearing. To be an audiologist, you have to get a master degree in Audiology. However, this requirement will change to be clinical doctoral degree. Passing the national examination given the Educational Testinf Service or ETS is a must, 9 months of post graduate professional clinical experience and have to perform 300 to 375 hours of supervised clinical experience.
2. Pharmacists-the person who work behind the counter in the drug store giving you a medicine as written in the prescription. To be a pharmacists you must pass the state examination and graduate from an accredited college.In order to make sure that they understand clear about the proper usage of drugs they’ve given out to the patients. Including give advices to doctors or other health professionals on the dosage, selection, interactions and side effects of medications.Working as the pharmacist involves a lot of sacrifie as the doctor does since you have to work on 7 days a weeks and in some places 24 hours a day. Some may also have to work in the place like nursing home, mental institution.
3. Dietitian – the job that work hand in hand with a doctor whose responsibilities is to tell a patient what to eat in order to promote their health well being. Nutritionist can also be classified under this category, the person must have a degree in dieteics, food and nutrition or food service management systems.
4. Laboratory technician- the person who doing the testing once you go for a medical checkup in a hospital or clinic. These laboratory technician will do exam the body fluid, tissues cells in order to check whether there are any bacterai or parasites that may pose danger to the patients then report to a clinical technologist or the laboratory manager. To be a laboratory technician, you must have a bachelor’s degree in medical technology.
However, there are still other medical careers that you can fill in besides those 4 areas that have been mentioned above. The most important things that you have to do is make a decision whether it’s really something you want to achieve,if so then go for it. If there are some stage of life that you want to change to do something else , then go for it. The same as if you willing to be a doctor, but at some stage you can not be, then there still other things in medical field that you still can get it.
